Kindergarten is a pre-compulsory year of schooling. Kindergarten students at West Balcatta begin the school year with a 'staggered start' to help with the transition to school for the first two weeks. All students are required to attend 5 full days a fortnight. At West Balcatta Primary School, these 5 days are made up of weeks alternating between 2 and 3 days a week.
