Walker Learning Approach

Our Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students engage in play-based learning. In the first hour of the day, 'Discovery Time' (based on the Walker Learning Approach), allows the students to be involved in meaningful learning that is relevant and developmentally appropriate within an intrinsically motivating learning environment.


Teachers of Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students determine overall learning intentions for Discovery Time for each term which are adjusted accordingly to the needs of each individual class of students. This includes social-emotional and behavioural learning intentions as these decided upon by each teacher and heavily dependent on what is developmentally appropriate at the time in addition to the needs of students in the class.
